A smilodon was a member of the sabre-toothed cat family and lived during the Ice Age which started over 1.6 million years ago. It was the largest member of the family. It had two long front teeth. It probably could not rn fast for very long and had to take prey by surprise. Likely prey included bison, horse and mastodon, an estinct member of the elephant family.
